Can I upgrade an HP computer's video card?

I've read some stuff and people say manufacturers like Dell and HP use BTX cases and fill them up so it's almost impossible to upgrade anything. Is this true?

I'm looking to buy like an a6400z or something like that from HP and upgrading the video card and the power supply because HP uses like 300w power supplies. Anyone know any video cards/power supplies that will actually fit and work with HP cases?|||You should be able to upgrade without any problems.

BTX case: as you're looking at the front, the motherboard should generally be on the left

ATX case: the motherboard will be on the right

Video card: almost all new PCs come with PCI-express slots, so just pick out the right PCI-e video card:

(narrow results with filter on left: 1x, 16x)

Power Supply:

BTX only:

ATX/BTX:

(just make sure it has a 24-pin connector)

Another thing you'll want to be sure of is that the cables on the power supply will be long enough to accommodate your connections. If the vendor (NewEgg, Buy.com, etc) can't give you any real answers, just check the manufacturer's site for a contact number and they will usually be eager to answer your questions. If you still can't get any clear answers, NewEgg has a fabulous return policy and will 99% of the time allow you a hassle-free return/replacement. (no, I don't work for them)|||Its preferable to open the case and check the video card the cards are going to generally be the same size it's obtrusions inside the case that are the issue, the case may be that u are using a internal video card, and each of ur expansion slots are either used on a critical device, i dought that seriously,, and HP doesn't only use BTX cases,, I've can't count the amount of HP's who's video cards i've upgraded on mines and ur hands and feet =) ,, i say go for it.|||You should have no problem upgrading, if you are computer savvy just poke around in the guts a little and see what it will take. However, I will warn that if your computer is still under warranty and you put an after market part in it, it will automatically void the warranty. Good luck!|||for detailed help visit hp.com and chat with online technician and give your conputers model number he will assist you briefly.

have a nice day
